DOUGLAS GUNNAR SODERBERG 3/14/1935 TO 8/02/2022

LYNNFIELD. Douglas Soderberg, of Ipswich, MA (previously Lynnfield, MA) passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022. Douglas was born at his parents’ farm in New Sweden, ME. He was the loving husband of Frances Soderberg, of Caribou, ME who pre-deceased her husband in 2017. Frances and Douglas were “childhood sweethearts” and were happily married for 60 years. He is the father of Craig D. Soderberg of Sabah, Malaysia, Kathryn Soderberg of Ipswich, MA and Karen Bell Soderberg, who passed away in 2014.

Douglas Soderberg, along with his wife Frances, founded Soderberg Insurance Services in 1968. They created the agency in the basement of their modest single family home in Lynnfield, MA in the 1960’s. Through hard work and their mutual support, the business grew and prospered. Douglas, always humble, was a successful businessman, but the business he founded never defined him. His activities with his wife Frances, and his children gave him his greatest joy. He loved to travel, enjoyed politics, and helping his family in whatever way he could. The company is now managed by his daughter Kathryn and is servicing clients all over New England.

Douglas attended the University of Florida and graduated from Ricker College in Houlton, ME. He received his Master of Science degree in Finance from The American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Douglas was an active member of the Lynnfield Congregational Church, The Masons, The Shriner’s Organization, Lynnfield Rotary Club and The Ipswich Country Club. He was an avid golfer and an excellent tennis player and the winner of many club tennis competitions.

Douglas always held a deep love for Maine. As a child, he worked on the family farm in northern Maine. He loved the lakes, the seashore and the people of Maine. His body will rest in the state that he loved. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the non-profit ARC. The family will hold a private service for Douglas.
